Estimates

An Estimate for the services in the Treatment Report is usually offered, unless numerous decisions must be made by our client regarding the direction of the proposed treatments prior to the Estimate.

Estimates are not necessarily contractual, meaning that they are ESTIMATES of what our experience indicates we will encounter, how long it it will take us to treat all the hidden conditions, and what the materials involved will cost.  However, assessment is an undercover guessing game based on all the information that any conservator can glean during an assessment phase.   Occasionally huge surprises are uncovered during the excavation phase; more often there is a balancing of things we had not planned on versus things we did plan on but needn't do.  Our philosophy is that we usually do not bother the client with small changes.  If a huge item is uncovered, the client is notified immediately and the proposed change in treatment is discussed.

Our contracts reflect discussions with our clients after estimates are offered, and vary depending upon the scope of the contract, deadlines, and the institution and their constraints.
