Welcome to MPF Conservation!
MPF Conservation (MPFC) specializes in the conservation and preservation of furniture, wooden objects, textiles, and interior architectural elements for both private and museum clientele. We provide a wide variety of services toward the overall care and preservation of these objects.
Conservation is concerned first and foremost with preserving an object's structure, history, and value to the greatest extent possible. To this end, we educate caretaker's in the best environmental factors to support the preservation of a piece, and also perform protective and restorative work on specific objects when needed. Typical tasks involve:
Cleaning and protecting historical finishes; - Repair or tuning work on joinery and structure,
- Repair of veneer,
- Repair and protection of historical finishes;
- Repair of textiles used in upholstery; and
- Reupholstery.
We work as an architect might, in fellowship with other specialty conservators, such as blacksmithing, while also having a staff in-house specializing in upholstery, woodworking, finishing, and various needlework endeavors. For each project, we assemble a team whose combined expertise offers you, our client, the best services possible.
The website is designed to provide information about MPFC, the process of conserving an object, and articles on the care of historical objects. Often clients don't think their object "conservation worthy" and our showing several small projects is our way of trying to make the process of conservation user-friendly.
