Hearst Castle® Flemish Sofa Treatment

HEARST CASTLEMPF Conservation had the pleasure to conserve William Randolph Hearst's Flemish Sofa, shown installed in the Gothic Library of the Hearst Castle® after treatment, above.

STAN DERELIAN MITCHELL POWELLOur team included Stan Derelian, tapestry conservator, and an example of his amazing reweaving and repair can be seen in detail in the photos below and in the documentation offered. The entire process took two years. The following document is not the treatment report, but a PDF meant for public viewing: HEARST CASTLE® FLEMISH SOFA RESUME

MITCHELL POWELL FLEMISH SOFASpecial Thanks to the Friends of the Hearst Castle for funding this project!

We have a slideshow available for viewing the process of conservation of the Flemish Sofa. Depending upon the speed of your computer, it could take several minutes to download. The slideshow can be viewed on Windows Media Player (MAC version coming soon):
