2007 TWO WASSILY CHAIRS BY MARCEL BREUER (PDF):  A modern family heirloom, these Wassily chairs have their original leather strapping.  The strapping back, arms and seats needed to be repaired and reinforced..

bullet

2007 CROWN UPHOLSTERY CHAIR (PDF):  The chair was made in Los Angeles, California ca. 1955, by the father of our client who was an upholsterer.

bullet

2006 FRENCH DECO CHAIR (PDF):  Family heirlooms brought from Europe, these were upholstered inappropriately in the last 50 years, in vinyl and blue mohair.  The innards, however, were intact.  The pieces were excavated, frames repaired, innards cleaned and reutilized, and reupholstery in a mattlasse which is a more appropriate material and style for their time.

bullet

2006 FRENCH GREEN DECO CHAIRS  (PDF):  These two identical chairs were family heirlooms brought from Europe.  The pieces were excavated, frames repaired, innards cleaned and reutilized where possible, and then they were reupholstered in a stunning velvet fit for a movie star!

bullet

IMPERIAL MONTEREY CHAIR (PDF):  This chair was one of the original three dozen pieces bought for the first Crater Lake Superintendent's cabin.  Finish was severely compromised, and had some inappropriate applications of an oil-based stain applied to it.  The original upholstery was hidden under several layers of reupholstery.

2006 NPS IMPERIAL CHAIRS (PDF COMING SOON):  These chairs were part of the original three dozen pieces bought for the first Crater Lake Superintendent's cabin.  Finish was severely compromised, and had some inappropriate applications of an oil-based stain applied to it.  The original upholstery was hidden under several layers of reupholstery.

2006 NPS IMPERIAL STRAPPING CHAIRS (PDF COMING SOON):  These strapping chairs were part of the original three dozen pieces  bought for the first Crater Lake Superintendent's cabin.  Finish was severely compromised, and had some inappropriate applications of an oil-based stain applied to it.  The original strapping was disintegrating.

bullet

2005 GREEK REVIVAL CHAIR Ca. 1880 (PDF):  This chair was built in Chicago in 1880 by Colby & Sons.  We provided a full treatment report on this project.  As a private client treatment on a piece that will be used in her home, there are compromises in terms of conservation and restoration.

bullet

Red Balloon Back! 2004 BALLOON BACK PARLOR CHAIRS (PDF COMING SOON): One was a family heirloom needing finish repairs and reupholstery utilizing the original innards in a new cranberry velvet.  After we finished this conservation project, the couple found two more chairs completely stripped of finish and innards and asked us to bring them up to par with the original!

bullet

2003 GODWIN-INFLUENCED PRIMITIVE BARREL-BACK CHAIR (PDF COMING SOON):  This is a family heirloom passed down from a great-grandfather ca. 1860.  We believe is a late regency oriental-influenced primitive in the Godwin style.  It was badly broken, and had been repaired with crude metal brackets.  We repaired the breaks properly, repaired the finish, allowed the anomalies to stand as is, and returned the piece to leather upholstery.

bullet

2002 EGG CHAIR BY ARNE JACOBSON (PDF COMING SOON):  A modern family heirloom, this early Egg Chair was destroyed by a bad upholsterer who drilled holes through the back and placed buttons to hold the cream fabric in place.  MPFC restored the piece to its original condition using conservation techniques, and using approved upholstery

bullet

2001 MIMI'S WINDSOR ROCKER (PDF ): A family heirloom from the late 19th century, the finish was severely compromised, and the needlepoint (not original but very old) was soiled.
